DP&S Partner Rick Thompson Honored by State Bar of Texas LGBTQ+ Law Section

Durham, Pittard & Spalding is proud to share that partner Rick Thompson has been selected to receive the Judge Norman W. Black Award from the State Bar of Texas LGBTQ+ Law Section. This annual honor recognizes attorneys who have made significant contributions to advancing legal issues affecting LGBTQ+ communities in Texas.

The award is named for the late Judge Norman W. Black (1931–1997), former Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, whose early support was instrumental in the formation of the LGBTQ+ Law Section in 1996. The section continues to honor his legacy by spotlighting advocates who expand access to justice and strengthen protections for LGBTQ+ Texans.

Although designated as the 2023 award, the presentation took place this November at the Dallas LGBT Bar Association’s 2025 Visibility Ball.
